Shea Stadium - The Mets hosted the Philadelphia Phillies in a twi-night double header. Tom Seaver took the hill in the first game. Seaver gave up just one earned run on seven hits as the Mets won another one run game by the score of 2-1.

In the nightcap, the Mets fared even better. The Phillies were held to just 2 hits as the Mets won the game 5-0. Jim McAndrew pitched 8 innings and Ron Taylor worked the ninth to gain the save.

In the double header the Mets used three pitchers, Seaver, McAndrew, and Taylor. With the two wins the Mets reached 10 games over the .500 mark. Truly, the Mets were in uncharted territory.  

Record 38-28, 4.5 games back. Tommie Agee hit his 10th home run in the night cap.
