In four innings today, Johan Santana allowed no runs on 2 hits. He struck out 4. Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran were both in the lineup today. Beltran was the DH. Both had no hits in three at bats but the important thing is they played in today's game.
Matt Wise relieved Santana and pitched two scoreless innings. Feliciano and Collazo followed with single shutout innings as well. Boston's Jon Lester pitched 4 shutout innings of his own. The game ended in a 1-1 tie in 10 innings.
Ralph Kiner was on the broadcast and sounded better than he has in a long time. Ralph suffered from Bell's Palsey which left him with slurred speach. There is nothing like hearing Kiner tell his stories from baseball past. No matter how many times you hear them, they still keep you laughing. Hopefully Ralph will be involved with more telecasts this season.
SNY has announced that all Mets games this year will be broadcast in high definition. For Cablevision subscribers, that's channel 718 which changed from 730 last year. In the past, only Mets home games were in HD.
