Willie Randolph was just on MLB.TV. He talked briefly about the great job John Maine, Oliver Perez and Dave Williams did last year.  He really likes the young pitchers and feels if the middle tier free agent pitchers are what you already have, Willie would rather give the young pitchers a shot.  Randolph said how much he likes to challenge the young guys and more often than not, they respond.  He also mentioned what a great job Rick Peterson has done working with Oliver Perez and thinks that Perez could have a bright future with the Mets. Randolph also stated that he would like to see the bullpen bolstered.  The loss of Chad Bradford was huge and someone will need to step up if the Mets can’t find a pitcher from the outside.
