Hey look, I feel sorry for the guy. I never want to see anyone get hurt, especially a player on the team I spend far too much time rooting for when I should be doing things around my house. But let's face facts here. He wasn't contributing anyway. I know he pitched well his last time out but what has he done other than that? I think the primary concern for the rotation is to get Banister and Maine back. I don't know what other solutions Omar has up his sleeve but I hope none of them involve Lastings Milledge. He is our left fielder next year.

And I am tired of hearing all of the Rick Peterson bashing going on in regards to the trade for Zambrano. If Peterson had that much power to influence and manipulate the trade fro Zambrano then there was something way more dysfunctional going on in the Mets hierarchy at the time. Maybe that's why Jeff Wilpon fought so hard to hire Minaya. Also if Peterson gets all the blame for Zambrano then he must get all of the credit for Glavine who he helped re-invent the pitcher's approach. I have never heard one Met pitcher speak negatively about Peterson. The "10 minute" remark was floated out there by the media and it took on a life of its own. We have no idea in what context that was said. And why didn't Zambrano say something sooner? He has some responsibility to be honest with his manager.

Bill Madden in the Daily News compares the Zambrano/Kasmir trade to the the Ryan/Fregosi deal saying the former is one of the worst in Mets history. Don't get me wrong, I would reverse the Kazmir trade as the first wish I get when I find that Genie bottle on the beach but don't compare Kasmir to Nolan Ryan. When Kasmir strikes out 5700 batters and throws 7 no hitters then come talk to me Bill.

The Mets may have lost yesterday anyway but the team should file a complaint with the league in regards to Angel Hernandez. Paul LoDuca was quoted in the papers this morning saying that Hernandez made comments that led you to believe that he would call balls and strikes differently for Smoltz than for Lima. What kind of horse do-do is that? Since when does the rulebook allow an umpire to make calls depending on whose pitching. I never heard of such a thing. That second inning yesterday was one of the more bizarre that I have ever seen. First it was the balk that never happened then this blown call on the tag at the plate. There was one replay angle that showed Lo Duca making the tag.

Now it's on to Philadelphia where the Phillies are riding an 8 game winning streak. Fortunately the Mets have Pedro followed by Glavine to start the series with Trachsel going in game 3.

The Mets still have only lost one series this year, the first one against Atlanta at Shea. They have won every other series and have split a four game series with San Diego and a two game series with Washington.
