The Mets have played in three game sevens in their history.  They have a record of 1-2.  In 1973, the Mets lost the 7th game of the World Series to Oakland. The Mets won game seven against the Red Sox in 1986.  The only time the Mets played in a game 7 in the LCS was 1988 when the Mets lost to the underdog Los Angeles Dodgers.  The NLCS of ’88 was very similar to this year in that the Mets found themselves down 3 games to 2 then tied the series in game 6.  I don’t want to remind you what happened in game 7.  The big difference was that the Mets were away for the last two games unlike this year.  More importantly what ever happened in those 3 previous seven game series has absolutely no impact on the current one.  I read nothing into the history except that the players wore the same laundry.
